What it must feel like to win the lottery!
We've had such a rough couple of years that have included having our first child and almost losing him, his continued poor health, our poor health, financial problems and living somewhere we'd rather not.
On the advice of a social worker we decided to go ahead and request an application for the Habiat for Humanity build in Seaforth. November was a hard month for us all around so the request didn't get sent in until it was almost too late. I received a call back and was told that although the due date for all applications was a couple days away they would give us an extra week to hand it in. Thankfully, I had all the information needed at hand to fill it out. Also, the 3 reference letters we needed alongside we managed to get from key people despite their busy schedules. Next up was waiting on a credit check that was all the Family Selection Committee needed to make a decision. Finally it arrived after I had given up on that company. A few weeks later we came home to a call on our answering machine that said return the call - and lo and behold, we were the family picked! We have been chosen to partner with Habitat for Humanity - Huron County for their Seaforth build this year! In other words, come August we'll be homeowners!! There is no announcement on the site yet but here's the link that will show pictures of the build eventually. It also shows pictures of previous builds in the county. Our house will look much like the Exeter house. Habitat for Humanity - Huron County We're to be interviewed by the local Seaforth newspaper sometime soon as well. Who knew we'd be so famous. lol So, providing our health is good (January has been better all around),we'll be pretty busy getting our sweat equity hours in before August. It's still an unbelievable feeling and hasn't quite sunk in yet. Sometimes things fall in place at just the right time when you least expect it.

Hi All!
This is a fantastic thing that has happened for you and your family ! You could have just given up,but your family didn't and are now reaping some rewards. ![]() I can totally relate to your families struggles having had a similar last two years and this news while excellent for you, also gives hope to others having a hard time. They say hardship is good for the soul, and if so,then the reward for so much hardship must surely be good for the heart! So now you have a strong heart and soul. You have your family your love and I hope your health too...and now somewhere to give it all a home. ![]() All the best to you and your family.Hope things get even better for you all.
